Central New York Raceway Park (CNYRP) expresses it's condolences to the Rowe Family on the Passing of Former Watertown Speedway Promoter Howard Rowe. Howard along with partner Doug Atkinson promoted the Jefferson County Dirt Track from 1956 to 1974. Mr. Rowe continued his associating in racing by being involved with Can-Am Speedway in Lafargeville, NY. He was inducted into the DIRT Motor Sports Hall of Fame in Weedsport, NY. He recently retired as owner/operator of HERO Enterprises. mr. Rowe was a communicate of Sacred Heart Church, a life member of the American Legion Post 61 and the Knights of Columbus Council 259. He is a past commander of the Watertown Power Squadron, and was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 23, Sacred Heart Church. He is a former member of the Kountry Kuzzins Modern Square Dance Club, Cosmopolitan Dance Group and the North Side Improvement League. Mr. Rowe enjoyed automobiles, motorcycles, boating, dirt track racing, traveling and dancing. After learning to fly a plane, he did his first solo at the age of 60.
Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Weds., June 4 at Hart & Bruce Funeral Home in Watertown. A prayer service will be at 9:30am Thurs, June 5 at the funeral Home,followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial with military honors will be in the N. Watertown Cemetery.
